Suwon City to Restructure Organization on October 1, Focusing on Becoming a "Future Society-Leading City"
Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province will reorganize its administrative structure to lay the foundation for becoming a "future society-leading city."
On September 15, Suwon City announced that, in order to proactively respond to changes in policy environments and new administrative demands, it will implement an organizational restructuring on October 1, focusing on strengthening departments related to "economic growth and leading the AI industry."
First, Suwon City will change the name of the Future Strategy Bureau to the "AI Smart Policy Bureau" in line with the government's national agenda of becoming one of the top three AI powerhouses. The city plans to actively prepare for changes in future society. Within the AI Smart Policy Bureau, a new AI Strategy Division will be established, and the Smart City Division of the former Future Strategy Bureau will be incorporated into the AI Smart Policy Bureau.
The city will also rename the Corporate Attraction Team as the "Economic Free Zone Promotion Team." This team will systematically prepare for the designation of the "Suwon Economic Free Zone" and play a key role in establishing the foundation for a "Korean-style Silicon Valley."
The Airport Relocation Division and the Airport Support Division will be merged into the "Airport Relocation Promotion Team" to expedite and streamline the relocation of the military airport.
Suwon City will also establish a "Lifelong Learning Division" to strengthen lifelong learning functions and enhance expertise. The Youth and Adolescents Division and the Lifelong Education Division will be consolidated into the "Education, Youth, and Adolescents Division."
Additionally, the City Council Secretariat will establish a new Grade 5 organization (Legislative Officer). To meet the metropolitan administrative demands of a special city, the city will operate a dual officer system (Parliamentary Affairs Officer and Legislative Officer).
