"Purchasing Russian Oil Weakens Our Negotiating Power"

President Donald Trump of the United States has urged member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to completely halt purchases of Russian oil and impose strong sanctions. He also insisted that China should face tariffs of 50% to 100% to help end the Russia-Ukraine war.

On September 13 (local time), President Trump stated on his social networking service, Truth Social, "All NATO member countries must take the same measures against Russia, and we are ready to impose massive sanctions on Russia when the purchase of Russian oil is completely stopped."

He remarked, "As you know, NATO's will to win has fallen far short of 100%, and it was shocking that some countries were purchasing Russian oil." He pointed out, "This significantly weakens our negotiating power and leverage over Russia." He added, "In any case, I am ready to 'go' as soon as you are prepared. Just let me know the timing."

President Trump also called on NATO to impose high tariffs on China to end the Russia-Ukraine war. He said, "If NATO collectively imposes tariffs of 50% to 100% on China and then lifts them after the Russia-Ukraine war ends, it will help bring an end to this terrible and absurd war." He continued, "China has strong control and even dominance over Russia, and such powerful tariffs would break that grip."

President Trump emphasized that if he had been president, the Russia-Ukraine war would never have broken out, saying, "This is not Trump's war. It is the war of Biden (former U.S. President) and Zelensky (President of Ukraine)." He added, "I am simply here to stop it and to save the lives of thousands of Russians and Ukrainians."

He further stated, "If NATO follows my advice, the war will end quickly and all lives can be saved. Otherwise, you are wasting my time, America's time and energy, and money."
