Nagasaki is a city that suffered many casualties approximately 80 years ago due to the atomic bombing.
This is the first time in 29 years that the Emperor and Empress have visited Nagasaki together, and it marks Princess Aiko's first visit to the city.
On this day, the imperial family laid flowers and paid tribute to the victims at the memorial containing the names of over 100,000 victims in Nagasaki Peace Park.
