"Disrespected for Being Uneducated": Man in His 70s Arrested for Threatening Sister-in-Law with Weapon
In Gwangju, a man in his 70s was arrested by police after threatening his sister-in-law with a weapon at her home because he felt she was disrespecting him.
The Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced on the 12th that they had apprehended and are currently investigating Mr. A (in his 70s) on charges of special intimidation.
Mr. A is accused of threatening his sister-in-law, Ms. B (in her 50s), and her spouse with a weapon in front of a house in Ochi-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju, at around 6:35 a.m. that day. Mr. A reportedly knocked on the door and threatened, "I'll kill myself," but no one was injured as Ms. B, who was inside the house, did not open the door.
Police, who responded to the report, arrested Mr. A at the scene as he continued to cause a disturbance. Mr. A, who is currently unemployed, reportedly stated during the police investigation that he was angered because his in-laws frequently looked down on him for being uneducated.
