Lee & Ko Appoints Former Fair Trade Commission Cartel Division Director Lee Soongyu
Law Firm Lee & Ko has appointed Lee Soongyu, former Director of the Cartel Division at the Korea Fair Trade Commission, as Senior Expert Advisor. After passing the 42nd National Public Administration Examination in 1998, Senior Expert Advisor Lee served in key departments of the Korea Fair Trade Commission, including the Competition Promotion Division (now the Market Surveillance Bureau), the Business Group Division, and the Competition Policy Division. He also held major positions such as Director of the Cartel Division, Director of the Mergers Division, Cooperation Hearing Officer in the Hearing Management Office, and Director of the Electronic Transactions Division. In addition to handling the Baemin-Yogiyo merger case at the Commission, during his tenure as Director of the Cartel Division, he was responsible for institutional reforms such as amending laws and establishing review criteria regarding information exchange collusion, which is currently considered one of the most critical issues in the cartel sector.
