Bangkok Bank and B.Grimm Executives Visit Nakwol Offshore Wind Power Site
Top executives from Bangkok Bank in Thailand and B.Grimm Power visited the Nakwol Offshore Wind Power site in Korea.
As of the end of last month, the Nakwol Offshore Wind Power Project had achieved a construction progress rate of 62%. Bangkok Bank (BBL), the largest private bank in Thailand, is providing financial support of over 600 billion won (approximately 600 million USD).
Chartchai Sophonpanich, President of Bangkok Bank, along with bank executives and employees, as well as Harald Link, Chairman of B.Grimm Power-the second-largest shareholder in the Nakwol Offshore Wind Power Project-and 25 other executives and staff, are visiting Korea until September 13. They inspected the offshore construction site of the Nakwol Offshore Wind Power Project and visited the Mokpo New Port, where Vensys 5.7MW turbines are being assembled. Bangkok Bank has provided EPC financing for the Nakwol Offshore Wind Power Project until its completion.
They confirmed the smooth progress of the Nakwol Offshore Wind Power Project and pledged, together with the companies and stakeholders responsible for the offshore construction, to ensure safe and efficient work so that the project can become a leading example of cooperation between Korea and Thailand.
Both of the only two offshore wind installation vessels in Korea-the Hansan 1 and Hyundai Frontier-have been deployed to the Nakwol Offshore Wind Power Project. By the end of this year, 91.2MW out of the total 364.8MW will begin commercial operation, with phased partial completion aiming for full commercial operation by the end of June next year.
Out of a total of 64 monopile substructures, 33 have been installed, and for one wind turbine, the tower and nacelle have been installed and the blade installation process is currently underway.

Bangkok Bank and B.Grimm Power are leading banking and energy companies in Thailand. Based on their trust in Korea's renewable energy-friendly government policies, such as the Energy Superhighway, they are considering expanding investments not only in offshore wind power but also in various renewable energy and AI projects.
