After the assembly, Floor Leader Seo Wangjin told reporters, "Since the entire leadership has resigned, it is not desirable to further delay the formation of the emergency committee. Therefore, we have decided to convene the party executive committee as stipulated in the party constitution to elect the emergency committee chairperson."
However, it is reported that there are still differences of opinion among lawmakers regarding the appointment of the emergency committee chairperson, and no decision has been made yet.
There is considerable support for the idea that Cho Kuk, head of the Policy Research Institute for Innovation and founder of the Party for National Innovation, should take on the role of emergency committee chairperson to manage and rebuild the party during this crisis. On the other hand, the victims of the recent sexual misconduct case have publicly opposed Cho Kuk taking on this position.
Seo Wangjin stated, "There are various opinions about who would be most suitable as the emergency committee chairperson, so we will gather opinions until the executive committee meeting and report them to the committee. The decision will be made on the day of the meeting through discussion."
