Collaboration Highlights Local Culture and Everyday Experience

Iksan City in North Jeolla Province has launched a "soap set souvenir" that transforms the region's historical assets into modern designs and practical products.

According to the city on September 8, this souvenir captures Iksan's representative cultural heritage and was planned and produced through collaboration between the Iksan City Cultural City Support Center and the Yeoldudal Soap Workshop.

The Yeoldudal Soap Workshop is located in a nationally registered cultural heritage site (Modern Commercial and Residential Building 2 on Pyeongdong-ro, Iksan) as part of the Somri Modern History and Culture Space Project.

The soap set was created based on three themes that reflect the characteristics of cultural heritage and the cultural city project. First, it features the "Mireuksaji Stone Pagoda," a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the "Gilt-bronze Sarira Reliquary," a precious artifact unearthed from the Mireuksaji West Pagoda Sarira Chamber in 2009.

Additionally, the set embodies the vision of the Iksan Cultural City Development Project, "A cultural city where people become jewels and want to live," by reflecting the colors and shapes of the twelve monthly birthstones.

In particular, the souvenir includes guides in four languages-Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese-so that both domestic and international tourists can easily understand the cultural value of Iksan.

The price is 21,000 won per set, and it is available for purchase at the Yeoldudal Soap Workshop. Visitors can enjoy both the historical value and the experience of purchasing a souvenir in this space.

A city official stated, "This soap set is a special product designed to allow people to experience Iksan's cultural heritage in everyday life," adding, "We will continue to promote various projects that reinterpret local cultural assets in a modern way to widely share the value of Iksan as a cultural city."
