Chinese Man in His 40s Dies Trying to Retrieve Fishing Rod from Okwa Stream in Gokseong
A foreign man in his 40s died after jumping into a river to retrieve a fishing rod that had drifted away.
According to the Gokseong Police Station in South Jeolla Province on September 8, a report was received at around 11:30 a.m. the previous day that a Chinese national, identified as A (45), had fallen into the water at Okwa Stream in Okwa-myeon, Gokseong County.
Rescue authorities deployed a lifeboat and eventually found A, who was transported to a hospital but was pronounced dead.
