Uijeongbu City Temporarily Reschedules Mandatory Closure Days for Large Supermarkets and SSMs
Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dongkeun) announced that, in anticipation of the upcoming Chuseok holiday, it will temporarily reschedule the mandatory closure day for large supermarkets and semi-large stores (SSMs) within its jurisdiction for the first week of October.
Typically, mandatory closure days are designated for the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. However, for October, the city will move the second Wednesday closure, originally set for the 8th, to Monday the 6th, which falls on Chuseok.
This measure aims both to guarantee rest for workers during the holiday period and to allow citizens to shop more conveniently during the Chuseok holiday.
The policy applies to four large supermarkets-Costco Uijeongbu, Emart Uijeongbu, Homeplus Uijeongbu, and Lotte Mart Jangam-as well as 25 semi-large stores (SSMs).
