Farmer in His 80s Dies in Apparent Entrapment Accident While Operating Machinery in Persimmon Orchard
A farmer died in an apparent entrapment accident while operating agricultural machinery in a persimmon orchard.
According to the Jangseong Police Station in South Jeolla Province on September 5, at around 12:10 p.m. the previous day, a man in his 80s, referred to as A, was found dead on the ground in his persimmon orchard in Hwangryong-myeon, Jangseong County.
On the day of the incident, A was working in the orchard, operating a pesticide sprayer.
Police believe that A died after sustaining severe upper body injuries in an accident in which he became trapped between the pesticide sprayer and a persimmon tree. They are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
In South Jeolla Province, a similar accident occurred on August 18, when a farmer in his 80s died after becoming trapped between a pesticide sprayer and a tree trunk in a persimmon orchard in Geumjeong-myeon, Yeongam County.
