This service has been underway since April this year as part of the "Special Transportation Measures for the Gwangcheon Area," which aims to resolve transportation issues in the Gwangcheon district and minimize inconvenience for citizens by establishing a BRT system as the north-south axis of the city's public transportation infrastructure.
The meeting was organized to share the results of research and analysis on BRT construction to date, present the draft plan, and gather feedback from relevant organizations. Representatives from Gwangju City, local districts, the Gwangju City Council, Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency, Korea Transport Institute, Gwangju City Bus Transportation Association, and transportation experts attended to discuss the basic concept for BRT facilities and potential new route candidates.
In particular, the city plans to develop the project into a plan that enhances both technical completeness and citizens' experience by considering various opinions on BRT station placement and strategies for improving the urban traffic system.

Kim Youngsun, Director of the Integrated Airport and Transportation Bureau, stated, "The construction of the BRT in the Gwangju area is a key strategy for improving the quality of public transportation and alleviating urban congestion," adding, "We will establish the optimal plan to create a public transportation service environment that all citizens can truly experience."
