The goal of this study is to develop a concrete vision and strategy for Busan to become a global hub for new marine industries. The research period is approximately 10 months, until May next year. KMI is serving as the implementing agency, while BISTEP acts as the dedicated institution supporting planning and research coordination.
During the briefing, the main directions of the study were presented, including: establishing the definition and classification system for Busan-type marine new industries; deriving mid- to long-term development strategies and action plans utilizing coastal bases; and preparing a roadmap for expanding the marine new industry economic belt.
Busan City plans to incorporate the research outcomes into policy and industry practices through expert discussions, advisory board meetings, and interim and final briefing sessions. BISTEP intends to strengthen its collaborative network with local universities, research institutions, and companies to build a "Busan-type Marine New Industry Model" involving industry, academia, research, and government.
