According to the county on September 3, the launch ceremony was held on September 1 at the Grand Walkerhill Seoul under the shared understanding that "everyone should equally benefit from technological advancements." Thirty-one organizations, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation, Naver Cloud, and Seoul National University, participated in the event.
The Next Urban Mobility Alliance plans to gradually implement the following initiatives: solving transportation issues through regional transportation artificial intelligence (AI) transformation; realizing autonomous driving-based Mobility as a Service (MaaS); and promoting smart city transitions and the spread of AI mobility.
Within the alliance, Yeongam County will collaborate to address public transportation vulnerabilities, guarantee mobility rights for transportation-vulnerable groups, and introduce smart transportation services at an urban level. To achieve this, the county will work step by step with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation, and others on autonomous driving pilot projects and region-specific services. It will also partner with local universities and research institutes to foster talent in smart transportation.
