Professor Sanghan Lee from the Department of Convergence Entrepreneurship at Soonchunhyang University has been appointed as the 5th president of the Korea Industry-Academia Cooperation Policy Association. He pledged to build a sustainable collaborative ecosystem where universities, businesses, and local communities grow together through industry-academia cooperation.
Soonchunhyang University announced on the 3rd that Professor Sanghan Lee has officially taken office as the 5th president of the Korea Industry-Academia Cooperation Policy Association. His term will run until December 2026.
President Lee emphasized, "Industry-academia cooperation is not simply limited to research and technology partnerships; it is a core pillar for universities, businesses, and local communities to jointly lead the national innovation ecosystem," adding, "Academic research and practical field experience must be harmonized."
In particular, he identified as key tasks the strengthening of field-oriented industry-academia-research cooperation by connecting university and business partnerships with local communities, reflecting local voices in policy research, and establishing a mutually beneficial ecosystem by expanding participation from both researchers and practitioners.
He also stated, "The role of industry-academia cooperation is becoming increasingly important amid national challenges such as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital transformation, and balanced regional development," and added, "Within new policy paradigms like the Regional Innovation-led University Support System (RISE), the association will become a focal point for growing together with local communities."
The Korea Industry-Academia Cooperation Policy Association is a professional academic organization that has provided a platform for collaboration among universities, industries, and local communities through academic research and policy recommendations related to industry-academia cooperation.
