Muju County to Host "Yabamdoju" Event Alongside Firefly Festival on September 6-7
A Variety of Food, Experiences, and Flea Markets Await Visitors
Muju County in North Jeolla Province announced on September 2 that it will hold the "Yabamdoju (Night Stroll & Drinks)" event as part of the 29th Muju Firefly Festival at the former Muju Theater Street on September 6 and 7.
The "Yabamdoju (Night Stroll & Drinks)" event, hosted and organized by Muju County and the Muju-eup Commercial District Revitalization Project Group, is designed to offer visitors a unique experience during the Muju Firefly Festival and to boost the local economy.
Festival-goers can enjoy foods such as sweet pumpkin sikhye, chicken skewers, and local agricultural specialties at the "Merchant Market" run by shop owners located on the former Muju Theater Street, as well as at the "Farmers' Market" operated by local farmers. There will also be hands-on activities including horticultural experiences, agricultural product workshops, and a woodcraft studio.
Indie band street busking and a community singing contest will further enliven the 29th Muju Firefly Festival "Yabamdoju (Night Stroll & Drinks)" event, adding to the excitement.
The county will also run a "Receipt Event," where visitors who collect receipts from purchases made in the Muju Lamp Commercial District on the day of the event can receive a 10,000-won Muju Love Gift Certificate for every 50,000 won spent, or a 20,000-won certificate for every 100,000 won spent.
Choi Eunyoung, head of the Muju-eup Commercial District Revitalization Project Group, said, "The Yabamdoju event is a time to share memories of strolling down the old theater street at night with a fluttering heart. I hope you will visit Muju this weekend, enjoy the 29th Firefly Festival, and feel the warmth of Muju's community spirit."

Meanwhile, during the same period, the "Muju Urban Sketch Festa" will be held around the Yabamdoju event venue and the car rest area, featuring detailed sketches of Muju-eup's city buildings, alleys, streets, and shopping districts. A total of 90 artworks will be on display, and on September 6, visitors to the Yabamdoju event will be able to vote for their favorite piece, with a special audience award to be presented.
