Cigarette Smoke to Disappear from Busan Taxi Stands... Designated No-Smoking Zones, Fines Starting in December
Within 10 Meters of Taxi Stands from September 1
Three-Month Guidance Period Followed by 50,000 Won Fine
Cigarette smoke will disappear from taxi stands in Busan. Starting September 1, the Busan city government has designated approximately 200 taxi stands throughout the city as no-smoking zones.
This measure aims to create a more pleasant environment in areas where citizens gather to use taxis. Smoking is prohibited within a 10-meter radius of each taxi stand.
Enforcement will not begin immediately; instead, there will be a three-month guidance period until the end of November. Starting December 1, a fine of 50,000 won will be imposed on those caught smoking.
The Busan city government plans to attach no-smoking signs to the taxi stands and encourage voluntary participation from citizens through a public awareness campaign.
