Pyeongchang County Accepts Applications for Use of Governor's Quality Certification Trademark for Agricultural Specialty Products in the Second Half of the Year
Pyeongchang County in Gangwon Province announced on August 30 that applications for the use of the county governor's quality certification trademark for agricultural specialty products for the second half of 2025 will be accepted at local town and township offices from September 1 to September 30, for a period of one month.
Since 2006, the county has been implementing the governor's quality certification system to promote the production of high-quality agricultural specialty products and to enhance consumer awareness. Currently, 296 items, including agricultural specialty products and processed goods, are eligible for the use of the governor's quality certification trademark.
The governor's quality certification is granted after a review by the responsible department based on ten evaluation criteria, including production organization, regional reputation and performance, external credibility, securing sales volume and distribution channels, safety inspections, and completion of agricultural training. The final approval for the use of the quality certification trademark is determined by the County Agricultural Specialty Product Quality Management Committee.
Applications for the use of the governor's quality certification trademark for the second half of 2025 will be accepted throughout September by the industrial teams at the respective town and township offices for livestock, fisheries, and processed agricultural, fishery, livestock, and forestry products. The certification period for agricultural specialty products is one year and may be extended once for an additional year. For processed products, the certification will be revoked if production is suspended for more than ten months. Once the certification period ends, a new application must be submitted to continue using the trademark. Accordingly, farms that were approved for trademark use in 2023 must reapply this year to continue using the governor's quality certification trademark.
