The meeting was attended by officers in charge of Chinese regional missions, officials from the Korea Coast Guard, and experts in the maritime field.
During the meeting, participants discussed effective countermeasures against illegal fishing, including inspections of the departure ports of Chinese fishing vessels. The attendees agreed that the issue of illegal fishing is directly linked not only to the protection of Korea’s maritime rights and interests but also to the livelihoods of fishermen, emphasizing the need for active responses. To this end, they decided to further strengthen the cooperation system among the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, local diplomatic missions, and related government agencies.
