Joint Efforts to Nurture Professionals and Respond to Lithium Battery Risks
As public concerns over safety have grown due to a series of recent lithium battery fires, Eulji University (President Hong Sunghee) and K Fire Safety Sharing Center (Chairman Heo Sutak) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to foster professionals in the field of fire safety.

View original imageThis agreement was established to enhance the capacity to respond to the fire and explosion risks arising from the rapid increase in the use of lithium batteries in electric vehicles, electric scooters, and energy storage systems (ESS), and to systematically nurture the next generation of professionals in fire safety as well as education and healthcare experts.
The signing ceremony, held at 11 a.m. on the 26th at Eulji University Uijeongbu Campus, was attended by Hong Sunghee, President of Eulji University, Heo Sutak, Chairman of K Fire Safety Sharing Center, and about 10 other officials from both organizations.
Through the agreement, the two organizations have agreed to cooperate on the following: joint development of educational programs for lithium battery fire response, operation of practical training and research programs, establishment and dissemination of safety management manuals, exchange of experts and instructors, and activities to promote a culture of safety in the local community.
Under the agreement, Eulji University will launch the "Advanced Course in Fire Safety Leadership," providing both theoretical and practical training in fields such as emergency rescue, safety engineering, physical therapy, and nursing.
Hong Sunghee, President of Eulji University, stated, "Through this agreement, we will share expertise in fire safety and foster professionals in the field, making this a valuable starting point to further enhance the safety capabilities of the local community and the nation. We will strengthen practical, field-oriented education and cultivate safety professionals to meet societal needs."
