The set's limited production and the combination of its rarity with a premium case featuring a new design each year are cited as reasons for its continued popularity.
This year, the front of the case features a real image of the night view of Gyeongbokgung Palace, softly illuminated under the stars. Inside, the 1-won, 5-won, 10-won, 50-won, 100-won, and 500-won coins produced this year are arranged in a circular layout. A notable feature is that the coins are encased in transparent acrylic, allowing both sides to be viewed.
The Current Circulation Coin Set is available for 7,700 won per set, making it an affordable collectible. Purchases can only be made through the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation's online shopping mall.
