Keimyung University's Archery Rising Star Joonha Jang Shines Bright: Gold and Silver at 2025 World Archery Youth Championships
Joonha Jang, a sophomore in the Department of Physical Education at Keimyung University (President Shin Ilhee), won a gold medal and a silver medal at the 'Winnipeg 2025 World Archery Youth Championships' held in Winnipeg, Canada, from August 17 to 24.
This prestigious event, organized by World Archery (WA, headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland), has been held every two years since 1991 as an internationally recognized competition. It brings together U21 (under 21) and U18 (under 18) athletes from around the world to compete for the title of next-generation champion.

View original imageThis year, 570 athletes from 63 countries participated, including top prospects such as Baptiste Addis, who competed in the Paris Olympics, resulting in fierce competition.
At this tournament, Jang claimed the gold medal in the U21 men's recurve individual all-around, reaching the pinnacle of the sport.
He also finished as runner-up in the U21 men's recurve team event, adding a silver medal to his tally and achieving two titles at the championships.
Jang was selected as a national representative after passing the first and second rounds of the domestic evaluation trials and is currently serving as a national team standby member.
Notably, he has consistently delivered strong performances in domestic competitions over the past year, demonstrating his potential as a promising national team athlete.
Joonha Jang stated, "It is an honor to win the gold medal as a Korean athlete on the world stage after giving my best. I am grateful to everyone who supported me, and I will continue to strive for even better results in larger competitions in the future."
Meanwhile, the Keimyung University archery team has continued to achieve outstanding results at domestic and international competitions through systematic athlete development.

Last year, archery coach Sujeong Ryu and Rio Olympic gold medalist and Keimyung University alumna Hyejin Jang were jointly awarded the Cheongryong Medal for Physical Education, further demonstrating the team's tradition and competitive strength.
