On August 25, Yeongcheon City announced that the "1st Korea Garlic Industry Expo," marking a new leap forward for the Korean garlic industry, has opened successfully at the Yeongcheon Gymnasium and surrounding areas.
This event is hosted by the Korea Garlic Association (President Jeong Nak-on) and the Garlic Mandatory Fund Management Committee (Chairman Shin Chang-hyu), jointly organized by the National Garlic Producers Association (President Choi Sang-eun) and Yeongcheon City, and supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, and Nonghyup Agribusiness Group.
In particular, as the first nationwide garlic expo to be held in Yeongcheon, it is drawing significant attention. Garlic producers and experts from across the country, along with other agricultural stakeholders, have gathered to discuss the present and future of the garlic industry and to share innovative technologies.
The expo is organized into three main areas: the Vision Hall (Yeongcheon Gymnasium), the Future Hall (Community Sports Center), and an outdoor exhibition area.

In the Future Hall, high-quality garlic from over 100 farms across 20 cities and counties will be displayed. Outstanding garlic, selected and judged by variety-Namdo, Daeseo, and Hanji-will be awarded prestigious prizes, including the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award.
Additionally, garlic crafts and processed garlic products will be exhibited, while local government promotional booths and a garlic policy promotion zone will offer a variety of attractions.
Notably, the Yeongcheon Garlic Rural Convergence Project Group will participate to promote processed products made from "Yeongcheon Star Garlic" and host various events. The Yeongcheon City Rural New Vitality Plus Project Group will also operate a range of hands-on experience programs.
In the outdoor exhibition area, 24 domestic agricultural equipment and supply companies will set up a promotional hall for agricultural machinery and materials, displaying advanced machines such as garlic planters and harvesters, as well as a variety of agricultural supplies, while introducing the latest trends and technologies. The Yeongcheon Starlight Village Thursday Market will also participate, selling Yeongcheon’s excellent local agricultural specialties and offering a wide array of food through various food trucks.
