Former NASA Deputy Director Pamela Melroy Delivers Special Lecture at Hanwha's "Pebbles of the Universe"
"Private and International Partnerships Will Open the Future of Space Exploration"
Pamela Melroy, a global leader in space exploration and former Deputy Director of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), visited Korea to share her vision for the future with young people.
On the 21st, former Deputy Director Melroy delivered a lecture to around 100 graduates and participants at the special "Pebbles of the Universe" program held at the KAIST main campus in Daejeon. "Pebbles of the Universe" is a space talent development program jointly operated by Hanwha Space Hub and KAIST, and this event was organized as a special lecture for graduates.

View original imageFormer Deputy Director Melroy, a former Air Force pilot with over 5,000 hours of flight experience, was selected as a NASA astronaut and completed three space shuttle missions. She became the second woman to serve as commander, leading the Discovery mission. In 2021, she was appointed as NASA Deputy Director, overseeing U.S. space policy and deep space exploration plans.
During her lecture, Melroy shared her experiences from International Space Station missions and cases of global collaboration, emphasizing that "private and international partnerships are key to opening the future of space exploration." She also encouraged participants by saying, "The path you will walk will become humanity's next journey into space."
