Pocheon to Hold "August Province-wide Delinquent Vehicle Crackdown Day" on the 26th
On August 21, the city of Pocheon in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Younghyeon) announced that it will conduct the "August 2025 Province-wide Delinquent Vehicle Crackdown Day" on August 26 to address overdue local taxes and vehicle-related fines.
The city will seize the license plates of vehicles with overdue automobile taxes for three or more periods or with outstanding amounts of 300,000 won or more, as well as vehicles that have been delinquent for over 60 days and have unpaid vehicle-related fines (non-tax revenue) of 300,000 won or more. For vehicles with two or fewer overdue automobile tax payments or with less than 300,000 won in arrears, the city will attach a seizure notice to inform owners and encourage payment.
Owners of vehicles whose license plates have been seized can retrieve their plates by bringing identification and paying the outstanding amount at the Pocheon City Hall Collection Division. Local taxes and fines can be paid via virtual accounts, Wetax, ARS, financial institution cash dispensers (CD) and automated teller machines (ATM), or the local tax payment account service (Local Cardro Tax).
The city plans to ease the payment burden for livelihood-driven delinquents by encouraging installment payments. Additionally, it warns that operating a vehicle without a license plate or with an illegal plate may result in a fine of up to 3 million won under Article 84 of the Automobile Management Act, so caution is advised.
