The ceremony, held at the Jeonnam Provincial Government Office, was attended by Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, Ko Byungil, President of Gwangju Bank, and Kim Donggeuk, Secretary General of Jeonnam Saranguiyeolmae.
The donation of 350 million won delivered at the ceremony will be used to purchase wandering detection devices. The devices will be distributed in cooperation with the Jeonnam Social Service Institute and the Jeonnam Metropolitan Dementia Center.
Since 2023 and through last year, Gwangju Bank's wandering detection device support program has provided 440 million won (about 1,500 devices) to Jeonnam Province. This initiative has made a significant contribution to building a social safety net by protecting seniors with dementia and people with severe disabilities-who are at high risk of wandering-from crime and accidents, and by enabling early discovery in the event of a disappearance.
The supported wandering detection devices are equipped with precise location information, heart rate and health data, and automatic SOS calls in emergencies. These features are expected to facilitate prompt discovery and safe return home in the event of a disappearance.
Ko Byungil, President of Gwangju Bank, stated, "As our society rapidly ages, Gwangju Bank will take the lead in sharing so that seniors can live with greater peace of mind. As a financial institution that grows alongside the local community, we will do our utmost to fulfill our social responsibilities."
