Trump: "No Approval for Wind and Solar... Fraud of the Century"
On August 20 (local time), President Donald Trump of the United States stated, "We will not approve wind power or solar power that destroys farmers."
President Trump posted on his social networking service (SNS), Truth Social, saying, "We are seeing electricity and energy costs soar to record highs in any state that has built and relied on wind turbines and solar power as sources of electricity," expressing his stance.
He claimed that wind and solar power generation are "the fraud of the century," and declared, "The era of foolishness in America is over."
In another post, President Trump referred to comments made by EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin during a broadcast interview, stating, "There will be no tolerance. The Trump administration's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will eliminate all green subsidies filled with waste and abuse. So far, more than $2.9 billion has been canceled, which is more than three times the annual operating budget of the Works Progress Administration (WPA)."
President Trump has consistently and strongly criticized eco-friendly energy sources such as wind and solar power, which were promoted by previous Democratic administrations, including that of former President Joe Biden.
Last month, during a visit to Scotland in the United Kingdom, he claimed that he saw offshore wind turbines while playing golf and argued that these turbines cause the deaths of whales.

Previously, on July 30, the Trump administration announced the termination of the practice of designating extensive areas of the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) for indiscriminate offshore wind development, invalidating all Wind Energy Area (WEA) designations. The WEA refers to areas designated as suitable for offshore wind power generation, first established under former President Barack Obama and later expanded by the Biden administration.
