The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 19th that 50,127 people visited Jeju on August 14, the second day of the Liberation Day holiday period (August 13-17), marking the highest daily figure so far this year. This is the first time in 2025 that Jeju’s daily visitor count has exceeded 50,000.
During the five-day Liberation Day holiday this year, Jeju welcomed 224,342 tourists, representing a 6.4% increase compared to the same holiday period last year.
To maintain the momentum of the recovering tourism market, Jeju Province will launch marketing campaigns targeting the Chuseok holiday in September.
Next month, Jeju will hold the "On-the-Road Publicity Tour" and a "Seongsu-dong Popup Event" in regions outside the island. In addition, the "Jeju Travel Week - Autumn Season" will be held on the island.
In particular, with the "Group Travel Incentive" budget included in the second supplementary budget, Jeju will ramp up efforts to attract school excursion groups and leisure organizations in the second half of the year.
Marketing targeting international tourists will also be conducted. Jeju plans to launch a joint discount promotion in cooperation with local online travel agencies (OTAs) for China’s National Day holiday.
Additionally, Jeju will participate in the Tourism Expo held in Japan next month to promote Jeju tourism, and will use a local TV program (TBS) to showcase Jeju’s culinary travel experiences. The province will also take part in expos held in Southeast Asia.
