Kim Dong-yeon to Tour Local Economy Sites in All 31 Gyeonggi Cities and Counties by End of October
Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, will embark on a field tour of the local economy, visiting all 31 cities and counties in the province by the end of October to listen to the voices of residents firsthand.
On August 18, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced that Governor Kim Dong-yeon will begin his tour in Pyeongtaek on August 20 and continue visiting various locations across the province until the end of October, meeting residents in a range of settings.
This initiative goes beyond simple visits, as the governor will engage with residents at local commercial districts, industrial sites, and locations related to Gyeonggi Province policies, to discuss ways to revitalize the local economy and explore policy directions.
Governor Kim will travel in a specially prepared bus for this field tour.
The exterior of the bus will be wrapped with the slogan, "Everywhere We Go, Things Change (DalDal); Gyeonggi Local Economy Field Tour Bus."
Two special buses will be operated during the tour: one for moving between sites related to the local economy, and another for residents to have conversations and take short breaks.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Government plans to hold a bus launch ceremony in front of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government building at 3 p.m. on August 19, officially marking the start of the local economy tour.
The first stop on the local economy tour will be Pyeongtaek. On August 20, Governor Kim Dong-yeon will attend the groundbreaking ceremony for TOK Advanced Materials Co., Ltd.'s Pyeongtaek Poseung Plant, held at the BIX Industrial Complex in Poseung, Pyeongtaek.
TOK Advanced Materials is the Korean subsidiary of Japan's TOK (Tokyo Ohka Kogyo), the world's largest manufacturer of photoresist, a key semiconductor material. With the groundbreaking of this core semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment production facility, Gyeonggi Province moves one step closer to achieving its 100 trillion won+ investment attraction goal for the 8th popularly elected administration.
Afterwards, Governor Kim will have lunch at a restaurant frequently visited by employees of companies based at Pyeongtaek Port. He will then visit the Naegi 1-ri Village Hall, which is currently operating as a heatwave shelter, to hear the opinions of elderly residents and other groups vulnerable to extreme heat.
Later, Governor Kim will move to the Pyeongtaek Port Marine Center to hold a roundtable with representatives from automobile and auto parts companies. The session will focus on listening to the challenges faced by leaders in the automobile sector, which is a major industry at Pyeongtaek Port, and discussing follow-up measures in response to the recent conclusion of Korea-U.S. customs negotiations.
After the roundtable, he will visit Tongbok Market to shop for groceries himself, check local consumer prices, and discuss traditional market revitalization with merchants.
