Governor Park Wansu Inspects High-Temperature Response at Geoje Sea Cage Aquaculture Farm
As of 10 a.m. on August 1, a high-temperature advisory was in effect for all coastal waters in Gyeongnam Province. In response, Governor Park Wansu visited Geoje to inspect the situation and minimize potential damage.
On August 14, Governor Park visited a sea cage aquaculture farm in Geoje-myeon, Geoje City, to review the management of heat-sensitive species such as filefish and to check the progress of emergency releases.
He also received a briefing on the high-temperature response measures currently being implemented by Geoje City and met with aquaculture farmers to offer encouragement.

He further emphasized, "In the long term, we need to develop subtropical fish species and introduce AI-based smart aquaculture farms that can adapt to changing water temperatures, thereby establishing a fundamental response system."
Currently, Gyeongnam Province is carrying out emergency releases of 1.58 million heat-sensitive fish, such as rockfish and filefish, as requested by 20 aquaculture farms in the province to minimize high-temperature damage.
On August 8, releases were completed in Goseong County, and on August 12 in Namhae County. Releases are also scheduled to take place sequentially in Geoje City and Tongyeong City.

In addition, immediately after the high-temperature advisory was issued, a countermeasure situation room was activated. Local on-site guidance teams were organized for each coastal city and county, working closely with the Fisheries Safety Technology Institute and designated officials to provide hands-on guidance on measures such as suspending feed supply, installing shading nets, and early shipment.
