Gyeonggi Province to Hold 'Eulji Exercise' for Local Emergency Preparedness August 18-21
Gyeonggi Province will conduct the Eulji Exercise from August 18 to 21, over a four-day period, in cooperation with related organizations such as city and county governments, corps-level military units, the Gyeonggi Northern and Southern Provincial Police Agencies, and the Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters, to establish local emergency preparedness.
The Eulji Exercise is a nationwide emergency preparedness drill conducted at the pan-government level to protect the lives and property of citizens in the event of a national emergency such as war or terrorism.
On the first day of the exercise, August 18, Gyeonggi Province will hold the initial situation report and wartime organizational training presided over by Governor Dong-yeon Kim, as well as the operation of the wartime integrated situation room and wartime establishment organization. In addition, resident evacuation drills will be conducted in the border areas of Gimpo City, Dongducheon City, and Yeoncheon County.
From the second to the fourth day, the province’s main drill will be a CBR (chemical, biological, radiological) integrated defense training at Suwon Sports Complex. Terror response drills in cooperation with local military, police, fire departments, and other related agencies will also be conducted in each city and county.
On the third day of the exercise, Wednesday, August 20, at 2:00 p.m., a nationwide civil defense drill will be held to prepare for air raids, featuring hands-on training in emergency response procedures and resident evacuation.
