Pyeongtaek Becomes Sister City with Gongju
Discount Benefits for Citizens at Tourist Attractions and Cultural Facilities Planned
On August 12, Pyeongtaek City announced that it had signed a sister city agreement with Gongju City, South Chungcheong Province, at City Hall. The city stated that it will seek to expand exchanges in various fields, including administration, economy, culture, and tourism.

View original imageThe signing ceremony was attended by Pyeongtaek Mayor Jung Jangseon, Pyeongtaek City Council Chairman Kang Jeonggu, Gongju Mayor Choi Woncheol, Gongju City Council Chairman Lim Dalhee, and private sector representatives from both cities.
The city explained that the agreement was pursued to expand opportunities for citizens to experience tradition and culture by cooperating with Gongju, a city known for its history and culture.
Taking this agreement as an opportunity, the two cities plan to introduce benefits such as discounts at tourist attractions and cultural facilities. In addition, they agreed to strengthen cooperation in a variety of areas, including exchange performances between municipal art troupes, exchanges between rural experience and recreational villages, collaboration to develop sales channels for local agricultural specialties, and local food exchanges.
Mayor Jung Jangseon stated, "Through this agreement, our citizens will be able to enjoy history and tradition more closely, and we will naturally introduce our culture to the U.S. Forces Korea. We will do our best to ensure that both cities can grow together by cooperating based on our respective strengths."
