People Power Party Supreme Council Candidates Rally Behind Jeon Hangil on YouTube: "A Comet-Like Figure, Disciplinary Action Unjust"

Some of the People Power Party’s Supreme Council candidates appeared on conservative YouTube channels hosted by Jeon Hangil and Ko Sungguk, raising their voices to argue that the disciplinary action against Jeon was unjust.
On August 11, candidates Kim Minsu, Kim Jaewon, Kim Taewoo, and Son Beomgyu participated in the “100-Minute Debate of the Liberty Conservative YouTube Alliance,” which was co-hosted by Jeon and others.
When asked, “What do you think about the ban on Jeon entering the party convention and the disciplinary action against him?” candidate Kim Jaewon replied, “I heard that Jeon was covering the convention as a journalist, so if that’s the case, the entry ban is a form of retaliation.” He added, “I felt that candidate Kim Geunsik planned and initiated this in order to gain an advantage.”
Kim Jaewon went on to say, “Since it was an intentional provocation by candidate Kim, I requested that he be held accountable,” and explained, “I have demanded that the disciplinary action against Jeon be halted.”
Candidate Kim Taewoo defended Jeon, saying, “Jeon only made comments that were appropriate,” and “It was just that the audience responded enthusiastically.”
Candidate Son Beomgyu also stated, “The labels of ‘far-right’ or ‘insurrectionist party’ are frames created by the Democratic Party,” and added, “Mr. Jeon Hangil loves conservatism and wants the People Power Party to succeed, but because he is so popular, factions within the party that cannot unite are attacking him and fueling division.” He argued that it is therefore not right to discipline only Jeon.
Candidate Kim Minsu also defended Jeon, saying, “Jeon appeared like a comet when the People Power Party was going through a very difficult time after martial law,” and added, “Because the party uses people when things are tough and discards them when the fight is over, that’s why we have no warriors in our party.”

Meanwhile, on this day, the People Power Party’s Central Ethics Committee began disciplinary proceedings against Jeon. The committee plans to hold another meeting on August 14 to decide whether to impose disciplinary action and, if so, what level of action to take.
