According to the county on August 11, Mayor Jung visited the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and the Recovery Support Bureau, as well as related departments, on August 8 to explain the damage status and recovery plans, urging prompt support.
Mayor Jung stated, "In order to ensure the swift recovery of affected areas and prevent recurrence, both central and local governments must work together to establish effective recovery measures."
The county has recently suffered significant damage to homes, farmland, roads, and embankments across the region due to heavy rainfall. While emergency on-site recovery efforts are already underway, active support from central government agencies is essential to accelerate and expand the scope of recovery.
During his meeting with government officials, Mayor Jung also proposed the expansion of disaster prevention facilities and measures to prevent recurrence of damage. He emphasized, "As natural disasters become more frequent due to climate change, we must shift to a prevention-oriented disaster management system," and added, "Institutional and financial support is needed to strengthen the response capabilities of local governments."
