Dong-A University is establishing a virtuous cycle system to attract outstanding international students in the field of engineering, foster global practical engineering talent, and support their employment and settlement in the local community.

Dong-A University (President Lee Haeu) will launch a new department exclusively for international students, the Global Advanced Convergence Engineering Division, within its College of Engineering starting from the 2026 academic year. The university will begin recruiting its first cohort of freshmen from September 24 to October 14.

This division will provide specialized education in AI, environment, energy, mechanical engineering, and shipbuilding·marine engineering, based on advanced convergence technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It will also expand its educational scope to architecture, urban engineering, electronics, computer engineering, and materials science. The curriculum will include Korean language, basic liberal arts, major exploration lectures, AI-based engineering education, capstone design, and field training, with internship and employment-linked programs also being offered.

Through this initiative, Dong-A University aims to cultivate and verify highly skilled international professionals needed by local companies, and to help them settle stably in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions.

To promote freshman recruitment, professors from the College of Engineering visited Nepal, Bangladesh, and Indonesia in June and July to hold information sessions and counseling events. The local response was enthusiastic, and large-scale promotional activities are scheduled to continue next month in Sri Lanka and other countries.

Park Siyoung, CEO of Langs Partners, stated, "There is strong local interest in the employment-linked specialized programs, so we expect a large number of applicants."

Lee Jeongjae, Dean of the College of Engineering, emphasized, "We will foster talent capable of solving industrial and social problems through multidisciplinary education utilizing AI and ICT convergence technologies," and added, "Through a virtuous cycle structure encompassing education, employment, and settlement, we will lead regional innovation."
