Yes24, the largest online bookstore in South Korea, is once again experiencing connection issues. This comes just two months after it suffered access disruptions due to a hacking incident.

View original imageSince the morning of August 11, access to the Yes24 homepage has been restricted. When users attempt to access the website or app, a notice stating "Unable to access the site" is displayed. Other services, such as e-books, are also not functioning properly. Access to the publisher settlement service is restricted as well, making it unavailable for use.
A Yes24 representative stated, "We are currently aware of the issue and are working to identify the cause."
When calling the customer center, callers are connected to an automated response system, which informs them that "Due to high call volume, it is difficult to connect to a representative," and then automatically ends the call.
On June 9, 2025, Yes24 suffered a ransomware hacking attack that paralyzed its app and internet network. The company resumed services sequentially starting June 13, five days after the system became unresponsive.
At the time, Yes24 did not immediately inform users or others of the hacking incident. The company only disclosed the hacking damage after news reports the following day revealed that it had reported the incident to the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and other authorities.
