Police to Launch Special Crackdown on Reckless Drivers for Gwangbokjeol... "Strict Response"

View original imageThe Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on August 8, "The week that includes Gwangbokjeol has been designated as a period for strengthening safety activities to eradicate and prevent reckless driving. We will intensify patrols at anticipated gathering points and routes where reckless and dangerous vehicles are expected to appear, starting before Gwangbokjeol."
From August 14 to Gwangbokjeol on August 15, the police will conduct intensive crackdowns by mobilizing all available personnel and equipment, including 396 officers from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and 31 Seoul police stations, as well as 198 patrol cars, unmarked patrol cars, and police motorcycles.
When reckless or dangerous vehicles appear, the police will deploy patrol cars along anticipated routes to block such activities and will arrest all drivers and passengers involved. Vehicles used in illegal activities will also be confiscated.

A police official stated, "We will maintain a strict response stance against vehicles that disrupt order and threaten safety on the roads through reckless or dangerous driving and other violations of traffic laws in urban areas," adding, "We will continue crackdowns to eradicate such behavior."
