Gimpo City to Hold Special Media Art Exhibition for the 80th Anniversary of Liberation
August 14-30 at the Media Art Center in Gimpo Art Village
Connecting the Spirit of Independence Activists to the Present Through Media Art
Gimpo City in Gyeonggi Province announced on August 7 that it will hold a special media art exhibition commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Liberation, titled "Echoes Transcending Time," at the Media Art Center within Gimpo Art Village from August 14 to 30. The exhibition will spotlight the history of Gimpo's independence movement, which transformed despair into hope through anti-Japanese resistance.
This exhibition features works by renowned media artist Kim Hyekyung, vividly and richly expressing the history of Gimpo's independence movement and the noble spirit of its independence activists. The exhibition is organized around the flow of the four seasons, with themes such as "Awakening History, Space for Heroes," "Burning Spirit," and "A Festival of Culture Linking Past and Present." Through these themes, the exhibition connects the order of nature with the eternal spirit of the independence activists, delivering a moving experience in the present day.
In addition to the main exhibition space in the Media Art Hall, related media art will be displayed on the wall screens and standing monitors in the first-floor lounge. This allows visitors to experience various forms of media art and reflect on the history and values of the independence movement.
Kim Byungsoo, Mayor of Gimpo City, stated, "This exhibition is a meaningful attempt to connect diverse elements?past and present, nature and spirit, art and history?through media art. I hope it will be an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of liberation and share a sense of historical inspiration with our citizens."
