Jeonnam Office of Education to Recruit 656 Teachers for 2026 Academic Year
202 Teachers to Be Recruited for Kindergartens and Elementary Schools, 454 for Secondary Schools
On August 6, the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced in advance on its website the subjects and number of positions to be filled, as well as the examination schedule, for the 2026 public kindergarten, elementary, special school (kindergarten and elementary), and secondary school teacher recruitment competitive examinations.
A total of 202 teachers will be selected for kindergartens, elementary schools, and special schools. Specifically, 59 kindergarten teachers, 131 elementary school teachers, and 12 special school (kindergarten and elementary) teachers will be recruited. For secondary schools, a total of 454 teachers (including those with disabilities) will be selected across 33 subjects: 357 for subject teachers, 19 for special (secondary) teachers, and 78 for non-subject teachers.
This announcement provides a general overview of the subjects and number of positions to be filled. The final subjects, number of positions, and detailed examination information will be announced in the examination implementation plans, which will be released on September 10 (Wednesday, for elementary) and October 1 (Wednesday, for secondary).
Applications for kindergarten and elementary school teachers will be accepted from September 22 to 26 (Friday), with the first written test scheduled for November 8. The second round, consisting of interviews and teaching demonstrations, will be held over three days from January 7 to 9 next year. Applications for secondary school teachers will be accepted from October 13 to 17, and the first written test will be administered simultaneously in 17 cities and provinces nationwide on November 22.
Despite the continued reduction in the number of teaching positions due to the declining school-age population, the provincial office is striving to secure teacher recruitment numbers by requesting the government to fully reconsider the teacher staff reduction policy. This is in order to facilitate the transition to a future-oriented education system and to stabilize school educational activities.
