Kwon Hyangyeop's 'Airport Facilities Act Amendment' Passes National Assembly Plenary Session
Regulations on Bird Strike Prevention and Localizer Installation Standards
"A Tragedy Like the 12-29 Passenger Plane Disaster Must Never Happen Again"
The "Partial Amendment to the Airport Facilities Act" (hereinafter referred to as the Airport Facilities Act Amendment), proposed by Representative Kwon Hyangyeop of the Democratic Party of Korea (Suncheon, Gwangyang, Gokseong, Gurye-eul, Jeollanam-do), passed the plenary session of the National Assembly on August 4.
The amendment stipulates the mandatory operation of dedicated personnel and equipment for bird strike prevention, the establishment of a basic plan for bird strike prevention, and the operation of a Bird Strike Prevention Committee. It also requires that, when installing a localizer (azimuth guidance facility) near a runway, materials that are easily breakable must be used.
