Spotlight on K-Beauty Growth... August HANARO ETF Report
NH-Amundi Asset Management announced on August 5 that it has published the "August HANARO ETF Monthly Report."
The August report highlights that the K-beauty industry achieved record-high export performance in the first half of the year, entering a golden era, and forecasts that this growth trend will continue in the second half.
According to the Korea Trade Statistics Information Portal (TRASS), Korea's cosmetics exports in the first half of this year reached $4.58 billion (approximately KRW 6.4 trillion), an increase of $530 million compared to the same period last year, setting an all-time high. If this trend continues, annual exports are expected to reach $9.7 billion, surpassing last year's results.
Market diversification, which has reduced dependence on China and expanded into Europe and the Middle East, is drawing attention. Exports to these two regions surged by 41.8% and 56.6% year-on-year, respectively, driving global growth. Last year, Korea overtook France to become the largest cosmetics exporter to the United States, and with the sharp increase in exports to Europe, K-beauty is establishing itself as a mainstream player in the global cosmetics industry.
In addition to the cosmetics industry, the medical beauty sector is also emerging as a new growth engine. According to the Korea Tourism Organization, foreign medical consumption in April this year reached KRW 187.7 billion, marking an all-time high. Of this, dermatology accounted for more than half. If this trend continues, the foreign medical beauty tourism market is expected to reach KRW 1 trillion annually.
NH-Amundi Asset Management has proposed the HANARO K-Beauty ETF as a product for investing in the K-beauty theme. This ETF comprises 20 stocks related to cosmetics and medical beauty, including APR, Amorepacific, and PharmaResearch. It allows for investment across the entire K-beauty industry.
Kim Seungcheol, Head of ETF Investment Division at NH-Amundi Asset Management, said, "The growth momentum of K-beauty, which recorded the highest export performance ever in the first half of this year, is expected to continue in the second half." He added, "With the acceleration of global expansion and the growth of the medical beauty industry, the HANARO K-Beauty ETF will be an effective investment tool for those looking to invest across the K-beauty industry."
