Ukraine Launches Drone Strikes on Russian Oil Facilities and Airfield
In the early morning of August 2, 2025 (local time), Ukraine launched drone strikes against oil facilities and a military airfield on Russian territory.
According to foreign media reports, the Ukrainian military stated in a Telegram announcement that the Unmanned Systems Forces (USF), a unit specialized in drone warfare, carried out airstrikes on an oil refinery in Ryazan, located 180 kilometers southeast of Moscow, as well as on an oil storage facility in the Voronezh region, which borders northeastern Ukraine.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) separately announced that Ukrainian drones attacked the Russian military’s Primorsko-Akhtarsk airfield. This airfield is used as a launch site for long-range drones.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that between the night of August 1 and August 2, it shot down 112 Ukrainian drones. According to Telegram channels and regional authorities, explosions and fires occurred at several Russian facilities, and there appear to have been fatalities as well.
