'Seoul Western District Court Riot': Man in His 50s Who Damaged Court Entrance Shutter Sentenced to 3 Years and 6 Months in Prison
A man in his 50s who participated in the riot at the Seoul Western District Court during the arrest of former President Yoon Suk-yeol and damaged the court entrance shutter has been sentenced to prison in the first trial.
On August 1, Presiding Judge Park Ji-won of the Seoul Western District Court Criminal Division 1 sentenced Mr. Yoon (56), who was indicted and detained on charges including special trespassing of a building and special obstruction of official duties, to three years and six months in prison.
The court stated, "The defendant not only attended a large-scale protest within 100 meters of the courthouse that could have influenced the outcome of a specific trial, but also repeatedly incited the breach of the court at the forefront of the protest," adding, "The defendant took a leading role in instilling fear among police officers and court staff at the main entrance of the court, inflicting serious harm to the authority of the judiciary."
Mr. Ok (22), who was indicted for special trespassing of a building and other charges after storming the Seoul Western District Court wearing a black mask, throwing a fire extinguisher at a glass door, and damaging a civil petition desk during the riot, was also sentenced to three years and six months in prison.

Additionally, Mr. Choi (35) and Mr. Park (35), who participated in the riot, were sentenced to one year and one month, and one year and four months in prison, respectively.
