A Total of 25 Members Appointed Including City Council Members, Public Officials, and Private Sector Experts
Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province has newly established an Urban Planning Committee to design the city's future blueprint.

View original imageOn July 29, Yangju City announced that it held the appointment ceremony for the 13th Yangju Urban Planning Committee at City Hall, appointing a total of 25 members including city council members, public officials, and private sector experts. The committee is composed of 4 city council members, 3 ex officio public officials, and 18 private sector members.
The private sector members include professors, researchers, engineers, and PhD-level professionals with extensive academic knowledge and practical experience in various specialized fields such as urban planning, architecture, transportation, landscape, environment, and disaster prevention, thereby enhancing the committee's expertise.
The term of the 13th committee members is two years starting from May 1. They are responsible for deliberating and advising on major urban planning matters such as urban management plans, district unit plans, urban development projects, and permits for development activities.
The previous 12th Urban Planning Committee swiftly handled 342 agenda items through a total of 104 meetings during its term, achieving tangible results such as securing public contributions in private development projects.
The city plans to continue focusing on sustainable development and spatial innovation for its 300,000 citizens, as well as on promoting private investment and ensuring transparent and ethical committee operations.

Kang Suhyeon, Mayor of Yangju, stated, "The role of the Urban Planning Committee is more important than ever as we aim to become the central city of northern Gyeonggi Province with a population target of 500,000 by 2035," and added, "We look forward to a variety of alternatives and valuable insights for the creation of balanced urban infrastructure and a sustainable urban environment."
