Department Information Session Turns into Festival... Tongmyong University Entertainment Arts Department Hosts Global Celebration
A global festival unexpectedly unfolded at Tongmyong University. What was originally intended as a departmental information session to attract international students turned into a multinational festival led by K-pop.
Tongmyong University announced on the 30th that it held an 'Entertainment Arts Department Information Session' on the 28th, with international students, their families, and related personnel from various countries in attendance.
International students from several countries, including Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Belgium, Burundi, Gabon, Cuba, and Mongolia, participated in this session. Shin Jongbaek, President of the international multicultural education organization EdHeart NGO, Jang Imsik, Director of Planning, and Francis Bernardin Inyanga, former Gabonese Ambassador to Japan, were also present.
Former Ambassador Inyanga stated, "In the era of advanced AI, there will be more opportunities for culture and the arts to coexist," and added, "Recently, Korea has become a model for the West in the field of music media."
Participants experienced a variety of educational and practical programs, including K-pop, musicals, digital sound, and stage arts. There were also performances by a band comprised of current students and an impromptu stage by Jessica, a singer-songwriter from Belgium. Through a discussion session with Professor Lee Gyuman and tours of the recording studio and performance hall, participants gained a deeper understanding of the Korean-style K-culture and arts education system.
The university explained that this information session allowed international participants to directly experience not only the Korean education system but also the creativity and professionalism of the domestic entertainment industry, as well as Tongmyong University's global capabilities.
