Hwaseong City Recruiting Citizens for 'Carbon Neutral Smart City Living Lab' Participation Group
Deriving Practical Measures for Carbon Neutrality Using Smart City Technologies
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on July 30 that it is recruiting citizens for the "Hwaseong Climate Guardians," the citizen participation group of the "Carbon Neutral Smart City Living Lab," until August 8.
The "Smart City Living Lab" is a bottom-up participatory policy experiment in which citizens directly participate to identify and solve urban issues, moving away from the traditional top-down, administration-centered approach.
This Living Lab focuses on "carbon neutrality," a key concept in responding to the climate crisis. The citizen participation group will use smart technologies to develop practical measures for achieving carbon neutrality.
Those selected as citizen participants will take part in activities for about four months until November, including: ▲ education on the latest technology trends and exemplary Living Lab cases ▲ a tour of the Hwaseong Smart City Integrated Operations Center ▲ and three Living Lab workshops.
In particular, the participants will present the "Eco Hwaseong Declaration" and smart city ideas developed through the Living Lab at the city's carbon neutrality commemorative event "MARS 151" in September, and propose carbon neutrality policy ideas at the final results sharing session in November.
Approximately 50 people will be recruited. Eligible applicants are citizens aged 20 or older who either reside in or are active in the Dongtan area. Applications can be submitted via the QR code on promotional materials or through an online link.
