Prevention is the Best Response to Major Industrial Accidents
Strengthening Company-wide Safety Execution
Hanwha Group announced on the 30th that it has published the "Hanwha Compliance Committee Operations Report 2024," which details the achievements of its compliance and ethical management activities. This is the third report released since the launch of the Hanwha Compliance Committee in 2018, and it comprehensively summarizes the group's compliance management system and the implementation cases of each affiliate.
According to the report, Hanwha Group has maintained consistent compliance standards centered on the Compliance Committee despite uncertainties in the global business environment. The group continues to drive practical, field-oriented changes based on the autonomy and execution capabilities of each affiliate. The Compliance Committee, composed of external experts and key group executives, holds regular quarterly meetings to review major issues. It continuously strengthens compliance management and advances its global compliance system by providing ongoing education, conducting inspections, and improving systems.
Hanwha has designated the prevention of major industrial accidents as a core group-wide priority and is focusing on advancing a prevention-oriented safety management system. The Compliance Committee supports affiliates in manufacturing and service sectors by checking the status of their compliance with safety and health obligations. It has distributed a checklist with 95 self-inspection items and an integrated manual. Additional measures include providing training on the Serious Accidents Punishment Act for field staff, issuing guidelines reflecting Ministry of Employment and Labor case law and issues, conducting training for new executives, and supplying safety management manuals to partner companies?all aimed at enhancing on-site execution.
Hanwha Group has established the H-Standard, a set of core compliance requirements for employees that reflect the group's core values of "dedication" and "integrity." These standards have been disseminated across all affiliates to systematically embed ethical and compliance awareness. Through ongoing training, employees are empowered to make fair decisions and act according to ethical standards in a global business environment. The H-Standard is actively utilized in various participatory activities, including each affiliate's "Compliance Day," action campaigns, and quiz programs.
Hanwha Group has also established the "Hanwha Group ESG Committee" under the Compliance Committee to systematically promote group-wide sustainable management. The committee holds quarterly meetings and expert seminars to share timely topics such as strategies for utilizing large-scale artificial intelligence (AI), synergies in marine business, and intergenerational organizational culture integration, thereby strengthening the group's overall execution in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives.
