Attendees included Lee Sutae, Chairman of the Resident Companies Council (CEO of Panasia), Yang Jaesaeng, Honorary Chairman (CEO of Eunsan Shipping & Air), and Kim Younggu, Vice Chairman (CEO of Halla IMS). They conveyed the challenges and suggestions of their companies and engaged in in-depth discussions with the Authority on future directions for cooperation.
In particular, following the first Corporate Field Forum held on June 25, the focus was on discovering forum topics that reflect the voices of companies and developing field-oriented support measures, in connection with the upcoming second Corporate Field Forum scheduled for September.
During the meeting, various issues were discussed, including: customized response measures for companies regarding the new government energy policy direction; improvement of transportation infrastructure to enhance commuting convenience for industrial complex workers; and tasks for improving corporate competitiveness and working conditions in industrial complexes through digital transformation (DX) and industrial advancement. The Authority stated that it would thoroughly review each issue and gradually implement improvements through consultations with relevant agencies.
Additionally, as a measure to resolve uncertainties caused by changes in internal and external environments and to promote exchanges among companies, the Authority discussed launching an on-site tour program for resident companies.
This program is planned to be fully implemented starting in August, enabling resident companies to share management know-how and strengthen their networks through mutual benchmarking.
Notably, there is an active movement led by the Resident Companies Council to autonomously explore the management strategies and organizational operations of other companies, which is expected to contribute positively to enhancing the competitiveness of the regional industry as a whole.
Furthermore, at the first Corporate Field Forum held in June under the theme "Policies for Supplying and Supporting Settlement Environments for Foreign Workers in Busan and Gyeongnam," various cases and policies were shared, including foreign workforce support systems and visa procedures in Busan and Gyeongnam, as well as settlement environment support policies. These drew significant interest and empathy from the attending resident companies.
Based on the opinions presented at the forum, the Authority is currently reviewing concrete action plans for improving systems and policies to support the operation and settlement of foreign workers, such as simplifying foreign visa issuance procedures and establishing residential support facilities. Through this, the Authority aims to provide practical solutions to alleviate labor shortages for resident companies and support the stable settlement of foreign workers.
Lee Sutae, Chairman of the Resident Companies Council (CEO of Panasia), stated, "I appreciate that the Authority listens to and considers the voices from the field of resident companies, and I hope that practical policy improvements will continue to be made through close cooperation in the future."
Commissioner Park Sungho said, "Resident companies are important partners driving the development of the Free Economic Zone. Going forward, we will continue to improve the business environment for companies and lead the sustainable growth of the regional economy through close communication and cooperation centered on the Resident Companies Council."
The Authority plans to maintain a close cooperative relationship with the Resident Companies Council through regular meetings and Corporate Field Forums, fulfilling its role as a partner in sustainable economic development.
