Goyang Begins Accepting Applications for Second Half of Gyeonggi Youth Capacity Building Opportunity Support Project
Up to 300,000 KRW Support per Person for Unemployed Youth Living in Goyang
Mayor Lee Donghwan: "We Will Continue to Be a Reliable Pillar for Young People"
Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Donghwan) announced on July 29 that it has begun accepting applications for the second half of the year for the "Gyeonggi Youth Capacity Building Opportunity Support Project," which provides financial support for language and qualification exam fees for unemployed young people.
The Gyeonggi Youth Capacity Building Opportunity Support Project offers up to 300,000 KRW in reimbursement for exam fees incurred from December of last year to November of this year.
Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting August 1, until the allocated budget of 107 million KRW is exhausted, regardless of whether the applicant received support last year or the number of times they have applied or taken exams. In the first half of the year, a total budget of 210 million KRW was provided.
The types of exams eligible for support have expanded compared to 2024 and now include a total of 1,004 types: 19 language exams, Korean history, 540 national technical qualifications, 347 national professional qualifications, and 97 nationally accredited private qualifications. However, among national professional qualifications, only the Type 1 special automobile driver's license is eligible for support.
Eligible applicants are unemployed young people aged 18 to 39 (born between 1985 and 2007) who have their resident registration in Goyang as of the application date. Short-term workers employed for less than one year are also considered unemployed and may apply.
It is important to note that applications can only be submitted after taking the exam, and applicants must complete the online submission of supporting documents such as the exam attendance certificate (or score report) and payment receipt in order to receive support.
Mayor Lee Donghwan of Goyang stated, "I hope this support will help strengthen the employment capabilities of young people who feel burdened by the costs of preparing for employment," and added, "We will continue to provide steadfast support to serve as a reliable pillar for young people in the future."
