KT Launches Full-Scale Generative AI Administration Project in Gyeonggi Province Worth 13.1 Billion Won
Application of "Mi:deum 2.0" to Administrative Tasks
Including Document Creation and Meeting Management
KT is set to introduce generative artificial intelligence (AI) into the administrative operations of Gyeonggi Province. This marks the first case of a metropolitan local government in South Korea integrating generative AI across all administrative sectors.
On July 28, KT announced that it would begin work on the "Gyeonggi Generative AI Platform Establishment Project" initiated by Gyeonggi Province. The total project budget is approximately 13.1 billion won. Over the next 11 months, KT will integrate generative AI based on its Korean language-specialized AI model "Mi:deum 2.0" into the administrative systems of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government.
Five companies are participating in the project, including KT, MTData, WiseNut, Konan Technology, and Daishin Information & Communications. The main areas of application will be document creation, meeting management, and information retrieval, with the goal of providing practical AI services that support the daily work of public officials.
KT aims to use this project as an opportunity to accumulate practical examples of generative AI in the public sector and to lead the digital transformation of administrative operations in metropolitan governments nationwide. In particular, KT plans to develop a model specialized for administrative data based on "Mi:deum 2.0," with the goal of simultaneously improving the work efficiency of public institutions and public access to information.
